The current average of $14,212 CAD sits slightly below last year's $15,547 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can work against you if you're planning to sell soon. On the other hand, it may help you buy at a more attractive entry point today. If prices stabilise, a well-kept example could hold its value better than a neglected one, especially if it continues to attract shoppers looking for a practical compact SUV with a good reputation among owners.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.73/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 26.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.73/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a used CX-5 with strong owner approval, good value, and a more engaging driving character, the 2016 is a solid primary target. If you're especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the best-maintained example rather than the cheapest one, since condition and history matter a lot for this model year.
