Is the 2016 Lexus RX a good car?

Generally — 4.3/5 is a strong user rating for this model year, and owners consistently praise its comfort, reliability, and luxury features. The smooth ride and loaded interior come up often, which fits the RX’s comfort-first, premium-SUV mission. If you want a refined luxury SUV that prioritises ease of use over flashier performance, this model year lines up well with that use case. With 28.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some attractive market availability.

Is the 2016 Lexus RX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners also describe it as reliable and dependable, with a reputation for trouble-free ownership and long-term durability. That said, a few drivers mentioned transmission concerns, so you should still pay close attention to service records and how the vehicle drives on a test route. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is ending up with a poorly maintained example rather than a fundamentally weak platform.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Lexus RX?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and some deal opportunities if you shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 99 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.19% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $26,496 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Lexus RX's resale value?

The current average of $26,496 CAD sits slightly below last year's $30,175 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the RX more appealing to you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it means there may be less upside than in a stronger pricing environment, especially if the broader used-SUV market stays soft. Even so, the RX’s reputation for comfort and durability should help it remain a desirable used choice.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Lexus RX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.19% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 RX makes the most sense if you want the sharper redesign, a comfortable cabin, and a market that currently offers some pricing relief. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2016 is the better fit when you want the newer look and a strong ownership reputation without stretching too far on price.
