Generally — 4.25/5 is a strong user rating for a used pickup, and owners consistently point to comfort, features, and a smooth ride as the main strengths. The Sierra 1500’s upscale presentation and well-equipped cabin fit buyers who want a work-ready truck that still feels polished inside, while the broad trim range also helps if you want something practical or more luxurious. Is the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owner feedback also highlights dependable day-to-day comfort and a truck that many people feel can be counted on for regular use. At the same time, some drivers mention reliability concerns with the air conditioning and transmission, so you should pay close attention to service history and how the truck drives on a test route. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is manageable, but only if you inspect carefully and avoid examples with signs of neglected maintenance.

The current average of $21,733 CAD sits slightly below last year's $24,163 CAD.

That softer pricing can work in your favour if you buy now, but it also means future resale upside may be more limited unless the truck is in especially strong condition. If you keep the vehicle well maintained and choose a desirable trim or configuration, you may help protect its value better than the average example. The current market still shows enough demand to support resale, especially for trucks that present well and have clean history.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.25/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 25.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.06% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.25/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a sensible choice if you want a used Sierra 1500 with a strong mix of comfort, features, and current market value. If you’re more price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby years and focus on the best-maintained truck rather than the newest one, since the right condition and service history matter more than a small model-year difference.
