CarGurus Analysis: 2016 Ford Fusion

Summary
With 113 currently listed for sale and an average price of $9,827 CAD, 28.3% of 2016 Ford Fusion listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2016 Ford Fusion 4.1 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2016 Ford Fusion stands out as a midsize sedan that blends sharp styling, strong road manners, and a generous amount of space. Ford’s second-generation Fusion was overhauled for the 2013 model year, and by 2016 it still offered the sleek look and well-made feel that helped define the car. It also had a reputation for being a capable, sure-footed driver, with a comfortable ride and handling that made it feel more polished than many family sedans. Owners often praise the Fusion for its smooth ride, comfort, reliability, and roomy cabin, which reinforces its appeal as a practical everyday car.
For 2016, buyers could choose from a wide range of engines and drivetrains, including the 175-horsepower 2.5-litre Duratec, the turbocharged 1.5-litre EcoBoost, the 2.0-litre EcoBoost Turbo, and hybrid powertrains. All-wheel drive was available only with the top two engines, and the Fusion also offered a plug-in hybrid version. The car’s interior packaging was a strength too, with 973 millimetres of rear legroom and a 450-litre trunk. Ford had also added a long list of driver aids over time, and the model’s feature content was a major draw for shoppers looking for value.
There are a few trade-offs to keep in mind. The non-hybrid models were not especially strong on fuel economy compared with rivals, and the car was described as not as deluxe as its price tag might suggest. Some owners also mention minor design flaws, along with concerns about the rearview camera and acceleration power in certain models. Even so, the 2016 Ford Fusion remains appealing because it delivers a lot of space, a good driving experience, and a well-equipped feel without demanding luxury-car money.

Nice features. But, the vehicle lacked acceleration power. It seemed to run sluggish.

Just unhappy with the malfunctioning rearview camera on our 2016 Ford fusion titanium.. Sounds like there should be a recall for our year of 2016 and others for the Ford fusion.

Good vehicle. Changing from 2018 GMC SUV AWD/4wd SUV to a 2 year older vehicle that does not have: AWD/4WD Towing package Bose Speakers Rear controls for radio & climate 8” ground clearance 3rd row seats V6 engine with the same mpg The strengths of the Fusion are; Price, looks clean & not rusty It is a vehicle “I wish I could afford when this Fusion was built”. Consumer Report recommended it. Great price if it last the “life of the loan”. My wife now has the “big vehicle”, so I have the option to get a smaller vehicle.

How much does the 2016 Ford Fusion cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $9,697 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $9,659 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $12,627 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $11,698 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −17.10% |
Prices have softened 17.10% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 107 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of choice if you're comparing trims, mileage, and condition.
Is the 2016 Ford Fusion a good car?
Generally — the 4.1/5 user rating suggests you’re looking at a well-liked used sedan. Owners commonly praise its smooth ride, comfort, and reliability, and many also value the spacious interior and generous standard features. That lines up well if you want a midsize sedan that feels practical, polished, and easy to live with. With 25.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still a meaningful share of attractive inventory to consider.
Is the 2016 Ford Fusion reliable?
Owners rate it 4.1/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to reliability as one of the Fusion’s strengths, alongside its smooth ride and comfortable day-to-day manners. Owners also describe it as dependable and trouble-free in regular use, which is encouraging if you want a used sedan you can count on over the long term. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is that individual examples may show the minor issues some owners mention, so a careful inspection still matters.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Ford Fusion?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 25.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 107 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 17.10% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $9,659 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Ford Fusion's resale value?
The current average of $9,697 CAD sits slightly below last year's $11,698 CAD.
That softer pricing means the Fusion is currently more affordable to buy than it was a year ago, but it also suggests future sellers may face a more competitive resale environment. If you buy now, your entry price is lower, which can help offset slower appreciation later. Stronger-condition examples with desirable equipment should still be easier to move when it’s time to sell.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.1/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2016 Ford Fusion or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 25.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 17.10% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.1/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2016 Fusion makes sense if you want a well-liked midsize sedan with a lower used price and enough inventory to compare options carefully. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to cross-shop nearby model years and focus on the best-maintained example rather than the newest badge.
