How much does the 2016 Ford F-150 cost?

Prices have softened 6.57% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 422 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2016 Ford F-150 a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Ford F-150 earns a 4.6/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Drivers consistently praise its comfort, power, and variety of features, along with the smooth ride and spacious interior. The turbo V6 engines are a recurring highlight, and the truck’s upscale feel lines up with its luxury-leaning, full-size pickup use case. It also comes across as a strong fit if you want a refined truck that still works as a truck.

Only 26.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is somewhat selective rather than broadly bargain-heavy.

Is the 2016 Ford F-150 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers commonly describe it as comfortable and powerful, and the feedback points to a truck that many owners feel good about living with over time. The expert assessment also notes that the F-150 rates better than average for reliability, which supports the idea that it can be a dependable used buy when maintained properly.

Ford also positions the truck with a strong ownership story through its technology and safety equipment, including 911 Assist and available driver aids that can help reduce day-to-day stress. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that higher-mileage examples may bring age-related maintenance concerns, so service history matters.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Ford F-150?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Limited trim is the most luxurious version described here, with 22-inch aluminium wheels, satin-finish accents, Mojave leather, eucalyptus wood, and a more upscale cabin presentation. Lower trims are not detailed here, so you should focus on whether the truck you are considering has the premium equipment you want.
• Powertrain: The standard engine described is Ford’s twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6, rated at 365 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and manual shift control. It is presented as strong, responsive, and capable, with a towing capacity of 4,717 kilograms in Limited trim.
• Safety package: Available driver assistance includes adaptive cruise control with forward collision warning and brake support, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and a lane-keeping system. 911 Assist is also included through Sync, and the lane-keeping and forward-collision systems can produce false warnings.
• Infotainment: Sync 3 uses a capacitive touchscreen with swipe capability, improved voice recognition, integrated Siri compatibility, and Wi-Fi software updates. A rear-view camera is standard, navigation is available, and Ford also offers a 360-degree camera system.
• Fuel efficiency: Ford says there are no official fuel economy figures from Natural Resources Canada for this configuration, but the truck returned 14.0 L/100 km on the test loop.

Which 2016 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

The 2016 Ford F-150 is offered in 6 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the entry point, and the data frames it as the most basic way into the lineup. It makes sense if you want the F-150 name and core capability without paying for the luxury-focused equipment described elsewhere in the range.
• XLT: This is the next step up and should suit you if you want a more balanced truck than the XL, with more comfort and convenience potential while staying below the premium trims.
• Lariat: This trim is a stronger fit if you want a more upscale daily driver and are willing to pay for a richer feature set than the lower trims.
• King Ranch: This is for buyers who want a more distinctive premium truck with a stronger luxury presence.
• Platinum: This trim is aimed at shoppers who want a high-end, polished F-150 with a more premium feel.
• Limited: This is the best-value choice if you want the most luxurious version described here, with the richest materials and the most attention-grabbing equipment. It is the trim that best matches the truck’s luxury-first personality.

The safety package includes adaptive cruise control with forward collision warning and brake support, plus available blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane keeping.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Ford F-150?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 26.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 422 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.57% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $20,461 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Ford F-150's resale value?

The current average of $20,965 CAD sits slightly below last year's $22,439 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the truck has moved into a more buyer-friendly phase, which can make it easier for future sellers to attract attention if they price competitively. The current market also shows a fairly wide spread between the low and high end of the year-round range, which means condition, trim, mileage, and equipment will matter a lot when you eventually resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Ford F-150 safe?

The 2016 Ford F-150 earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, along with a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford includes 911 Assist through Sync, which can automatically contact emergency responders if the airbags deploy and a paired device is in the vehicle. Available driver aids include adaptive cruise control with forward collision warning and brake support, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and a lane-keeping system that can alert the driver and help prevent lane departure.

A key caveat is that the truck is not eligible for Top Safety Pick+ because it does not have automatic emergency braking, and the lane-keeping and forward-collision systems can issue false warnings.

Should I buy a 2016 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 26.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.57% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2016 model stands out for its luxury-leaning Limited trim, upgraded Sync 3 infotainment, and strong safety equipment.

The bottom line: If you want a refined, well-equipped full-size pickup with strong owner satisfaction, the 2016 is the one to target. If you are more price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully within this year because the market has softened and there are plenty of listings to compare.
