I own a 2016 Dodge Journey and just the other day the drivers head rest popped out . I was changing my seat cover for the head rest when this happened. I tried to put it back in place but there aren’t any clips to fix it so I figure it’s a defect. I’ve read a lot of complaints about this happening. This needs to be placed on the recall list. I have also had trouble with my transmission, which I have also heard bad news about. Hopefully Dodge will figure out and fix these problems.

We had a 2010 Journey RT and were very satisfied with it so we were looking for something similar. This 2016 Journey RT has not disappointed. The motor has a nice amount of power, seats very comfortable and the bells and whistles it came with are great too. My only wish is that the mileage was a little better but all in all we are very happy with our purchase.

How much does the 2016 Dodge Journey cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $9,296 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $9,296 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $11,323 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $11,101 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −16.26% |
Prices have softened 16.26% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 268 listings available, which suggests a reasonable amount of inventory to compare before you decide.
Is the 2016 Dodge Journey a good car?
The 2016 Dodge Journey can make sense if you value a comfortable cabin and a relaxed driving feel, but it is a mixed proposition overall. Owners gave it a 3.75/5 rating, and recurring positives include comfortable seating, decent V6 power, and smooth steering. At the same time, some owners noted transmission concerns, climate control issues, and limited media features. With 23.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2016 Dodge Journey reliable?
Owner feedback points to some reliability concerns, especially around transmission problems and other functionality issues. That said, some drivers still describe the Journey as dependable in everyday use, with a smooth driving experience and a comfortable setup that can work well for routine commuting. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that repair-prone systems may become more costly if the vehicle has not been maintained carefully.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Dodge Journey?
This looks like a moderate buyer’s market, so you can afford to be selective and compare condition, history, and pricing carefully.
- Deal availability: 23.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 268 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 16.26% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $9,296 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Dodge Journey's resale value?
The current average of $9,296 CAD sits slightly below last year's $11,101 CAD.
That price movement suggests the Journey has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may remain under pressure unless the vehicle is in especially strong condition or priced very competitively. If you plan to own it for a while, buying well now matters more than expecting strong value retention later.
Should I buy a 2016 Dodge Journey or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 23.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 16.26% compared with last year.
The bottom line: The 2016 Dodge Journey can be a reasonable pick if you want a comfortable, easygoing SUV and you find one with strong maintenance records at a fair price. If you are especially price-sensitive, keep an eye on similarly priced alternatives and compare condition closely, since the best value here depends heavily on the individual listing.
