Is the 2016 Dodge Journey a good car?

The 2016 Dodge Journey is a mixed-value choice, but the 3.4/5 user rating suggests it can work well if you prioritise comfort and everyday drivability over the latest features.

Owners commonly praise the comfortable seating, the stronger feel of the V6 engine, and the smooth steering and driving experience. At the same time, some shoppers note transmission concerns and functionality issues with items like the climate control, along with limited features such as a rearview camera and media options.

With 24.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitively priced example if you shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Dodge Journey reliable?

Owner feedback points to some reliability concerns, especially around transmission problems and other functionality issues that can affect day-to-day use. That said, the same reviews also describe the vehicle as comfortable and smooth to drive, which suggests the ownership experience can be appealing when the right example is found.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is ending up with a vehicle that needs more attention than expected, so a thorough inspection and service-history review matter a lot.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Dodge Journey?

This looks like a moderate buyer's market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 24.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 233 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.92% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $9,351 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Dodge Journey's resale value?

The current average of $9,873 CAD sits slightly below last year's $11,084 CAD.

For a future seller, that softer pricing trend suggests the market has become more favourable to buyers, which can put pressure on resale value in the near term. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned to protect value when it's time to sell. The current pricing also means your exit value will likely depend heavily on mileage, condition, and maintenance history.

Should I buy a 2016 Dodge Journey or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 24.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.92% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2016 is worth a look if you want a lower-priced used SUV with a decent supply of listings and you're willing to shop carefully for condition. If you're especially price-sensitive, the 2015 may appeal because its average price is lower, while the 2017 sits higher and may be the better path if you want to compare a newer model-year alternative.
