Too much body damage, not equipped with Bluetooth or a backup camera and no receiver to haul our electric scooter.

I own a 2016 Dodge Journey and just the other day the drivers head rest popped out . I was changing my seat cover for the head rest when this happened. I tried to put it back in place but there aren’t any clips to fix it so I figure it’s a defect. I’ve read a lot of complaints about this happening. This needs to be placed on the recall list. I have also had trouble with my transmission, which I have also heard bad news about. Hopefully Dodge will figure out and fix these problems.

We had a 2010 Journey RT and were very satisfied with it so we were looking for something similar. This 2016 Journey RT has not disappointed. The motor has a nice amount of power, seats very comfortable and the bells and whistles it came with are great too. My only wish is that the mileage was a little better but all in all we are very happy with our purchase.

How much does the 2016 Dodge Journey cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $9,709 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $9,361 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $11,271 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $11,271 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −13.87% |
Prices have softened 13.87% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 248 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2016 Dodge Journey a good car?
The 2016 Dodge Journey can be a reasonable choice if you value comfort and an easygoing drive, but it is best approached with realistic expectations. The user rating is 3.44/5, which points to a mixed ownership experience overall.
Owners commonly praise the comfortable seating, the decent power from the V6 engine, and the smooth steering and driving feel. At the same time, some drivers mention transmission concerns, climate control issues, and limited media features.
With 20.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively rather than settling quickly.
Is the 2016 Dodge Journey reliable?
Owner feedback points to a mixed reliability picture. Some drivers describe the Journey as comfortable and smooth to drive, and those traits can make it feel dependable in day-to-day use.
At the same time, transmission problems and functionality issues with components such as the climate control show up often enough to matter. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is worth taking seriously, especially if maintenance records are incomplete.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Dodge Journey?
This looks like a moderate buyer’s market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 20.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 248 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 13.87% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $9,361 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Dodge Journey's resale value?
The current average of $9,709 CAD sits slightly below last year's $11,271 CAD.
That decline suggests the market has cooled, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price, you may reduce the risk of taking an immediate depreciation hit. For a future seller, the softer pricing trend means condition, mileage, and service history will matter even more when it is time to list.
Should I buy a 2016 Dodge Journey or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 20.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 13.87% compared with last year.
The bottom line: The 2016 is worth considering if you want a lower-priced Journey and can find one with strong maintenance history and a clean inspection. If you are price-sensitive, keep the 2016 on your shortlist and compare it carefully with nearby years to see whether a better-equipped or better-priced example gives you more value.
