Is the 2016 Chevrolet Trax a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Chevrolet Trax earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. It was designed as Chevrolet’s first subcompact crossover, so you get a city-friendly footprint, a higher seating position, and the kind of practical packaging that suits everyday use. The cabin’s seven-inch infotainment touchscreen, OnStar, and Bluetooth add to its appeal if you want an affordable small SUV with straightforward utility. 15.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Trax reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2016 Trax’s appeal comes from practical packaging and everyday usability rather than complexity, which can be a plus if you want a simple used crossover. At the same time, the early Trax’s safety equipment was relatively sparse compared with later years, so you should pay close attention to condition, maintenance history, and how the vehicle has aged overall. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that an early-model example may show more wear and fewer features than newer alternatives.

If you find a listing below $8,331 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Trax's resale value?

The current average of $8,356 CAD sits slightly below last year's $10,829 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Trax has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range, you may have less downside left than someone buying closer to the high end. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Trax or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 15.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 22.83% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 Trax makes sense if you want a budget-friendly, city-sized crossover and you can find one priced near the lower end of the market. If you are especially price-sensitive, it is worth comparing nearby model years to see whether a newer example offers more equipment or a better overall value proposition for only a modest increase in cost.
