Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 56 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.71% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $10,224 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $10,636 CAD sits slightly below last year's $12,326 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Malibu has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger resale hit later. The model’s broad appeal as a comfortable, tech-friendly midsize sedan should help keep it relevant with used buyers.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.71% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should focus on the 2016 if you want the newer ninth-generation Malibu feel, a roomy back seat, and a used price that has already come down meaningfully. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2016 is the better starting point when you want the more modern design and a market that still offers some deal opportunities.
