Is the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, the array of features, and the good value for money, while the ride comfort and convenience features also come up often. For you, that makes it a sensible pick if you want an affordable used crossover with a roomy cabin and everyday practicality. With 20.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights a vehicle that many people have lived with comfortably over time, especially when it comes to everyday usability and confidence in tough conditions. At the same time, the model’s reputation is shaped by engine-related concerns, so reliability depends heavily on maintenance history and how carefully the vehicle has been cared for. For used buyers, that means the long-term ownership risk is manageable only if you inspect the mechanical history closely.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Equinox?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 20.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 152 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.96% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $10,762 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $10,762 CAD sits slightly below last year's $11,444 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can limit upside for a future seller if you buy at the wrong price. If you plan to resell later, your best protection is to buy well, keep maintenance records, and focus on examples with clean history and strong condition. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 20.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.96% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is the better fit if you want a roomy, well-equipped compact SUV and you can verify that the vehicle has been maintained carefully. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-priced example rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
