Is the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox a good car?

Generally — the 4.47/5 user rating points to a well-liked used SUV, especially if you value a spacious interior, useful features, and a comfortable ride. Owners repeatedly highlight the roomy cabin, strong value for money, and conveniences like remote start and a backup camera, while the overview shows it suits you best if you want a practical compact SUV with plenty of everyday comfort. The market also shows 21.6% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox reliable?

Owners rate it 4.47/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback leans toward dependable everyday use, with many drivers describing it as comfortable, practical, and easy to live with over time. That said, the model’s reputation is shaped by serious engine-related concerns in this generation, so used buyers should pay close attention to maintenance records and condition before committing.

For long-term ownership, the main risk is that a neglected example could become expensive to keep on the road.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Equinox?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 21.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 162 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.84% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $10,872 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $10,893 CAD sits slightly below last year's $11,820 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some of its depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss later. The current market also shows that buyers are still responding to well-priced examples, which supports resale demand.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.47/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 21.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.84% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.47/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should focus on the 2016 if you want a roomy, comfortable compact SUV and you’re willing to shop carefully for a well-maintained example. If your priority is stretching your budget, the softer pricing makes this year worth considering; if you want the safest ownership bet, a thorough inspection and service-history review should be non-negotiable before you buy.
