What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Toyota RAV4?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LE, XLE, and Limited each build on the same practical foundation, but the feature gap matters. The LE is the simplest version, while the XLE adds more convenience, and the Limited is the one that unlocks the most desirable safety and comfort equipment.
• Powertrain: Every RAV4 uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 176 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. It is peppy and refined, but some drivers may still find it a bit underpowered from a standstill.
• Safety package: The Limited is the only trim that can get the optional Technology Package, which adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, upgraded JBL audio, voice recognition, automatic high beams, and more. A rear-view camera is standard on the XLE and Limited, but only optional on the LE.
• Infotainment: The RAV4 can be equipped with an Entune system and a 6.1-inch touchscreen. Bluetooth is standard, and the setup can include smartphone apps, navigation, HD Radio, and traffic and weather information, but the interface can be frustrating to use.
• Fuel efficiency: The RAV4 is rated at 9.5 L/100 km in combined driving, or 8.9 L/100 km with FWD and 9.6 L/100 km for the Limited.

Which 2015 Toyota RAV4 trim should I buy?

The 2015 Toyota RAV4 is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the RAV4 nameplate and do not need the extra convenience and safety equipment found higher up.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more everyday convenience while staying below the Limited’s price and equipment jump.
• Limited: Choose this if you want the most complete version, especially if you value the optional Technology Package and the standard all-wheel drive.

The Limited is the only trim that can get the optional Technology Package, so it is the one to target if advanced safety features matter most.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Toyota RAV4?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 23.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 195 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.66% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $15,559 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Toyota RAV4's resale value?

The current average of $15,890 CAD sits slightly below last year's $17,024 CAD.

That softer pricing trend suggests future sellers may not see the same strength they would have a year ago, especially if the market stays well supplied. Even so, the RAV4’s reputation for reliability and practicality should help it remain appealing to used buyers. If you keep the vehicle in strong condition and maintain it properly, its broad usefulness should continue to support demand.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Toyota RAV4 safe?

The 2015 Toyota RAV4 earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS and a four-star overall crash-test rating from NHTSA, with a three-star protection rating for the front passenger in the frontal-impact assessment.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The RAV4’s safety story is mixed by trim. The XLE and Limited get a rear-view camera, while the LE only offers it as an option. If you want more advanced driver assistance, you need the optional Technology Package on the Limited, which adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, upgraded JBL audio, voice recognition, automatic high beams, and more. A key caveat is that active cruise control and active braking are unavailable on this model year.

Should I buy a 2015 Toyota RAV4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 23.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.66% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Improved crash-test ratings help strengthen this year’s appeal, especially if safety matters to you.

The bottom line: The 2015 RAV4 is a sensible choice if you want a practical compact SUV with strong owner satisfaction, good value, and improved safety credentials. If you are especially price-sensitive, it is worth shopping this year carefully because the market has softened and there are still enough listings to compare. If you want the newest safety and tech features, you may want to look at a later model year instead.
