What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Honda CR-V?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the most basic version, while higher trims add more features and a more upscale feel. The Touring trim stands out with a standard navigation system and 18-inch aluminium alloy wheels, and it builds on the EX-L with a more premium equipment set.
• Powertrain: The CR-V uses a direct-injected 2.4-litre i-VTEC four-cylinder engine with 185 horsepower and a continuously variable transmission. The engine is described as smooth and peppy, and the CVT is tuned to filter drone while responding well to driver inputs.
• Safety package: Honda’s safety suite includes LaneWatch camera technology, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning, and collision-mitigation braking. Some of these features are available only on higher trims, and LaneWatch is described as awkward to use.
• Infotainment: The system centres on a 7-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth audio streaming, text-messaging support, a USB port, an auxiliary input jack, and HondaLink smartphone integration. The interface is functional, but the physical controls are not especially intuitive.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert test drive notes a Natural Resources Canada combined rating of 8.2 L/100 km, and the test vehicle returned 9.5 L/100 km in mixed highway-focused driving.

Which 2015 Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2015 Honda CR-V is offered in 3 trim levels: LX, EX-L, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the CR-V’s core practicality at the lowest cost. It gives you the basic formula, but you’ll miss some of the nicer convenience and safety-related equipment found higher up the range.
• EX-L: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to the top trim. It’s the trim to target if you want a better-equipped CR-V that still stays sensible.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, with standard navigation, 18-inch alloy wheels, and the most complete feature set in the lineup. It suits you best if you want the most content and don’t mind paying for it.

Safety equipment expands as you move up the range, so check carefully which driver-assistance features are included on the trim you’re considering.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Honda CR-V?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 26.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 287 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year. If you find a listing below $14,544 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Honda CR-V's resale value?

The current average of $14,544 CAD sits slightly below last year's $14,652 CAD.

That small decline suggests the market has stayed fairly stable rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For a future seller, that usually points to predictable pricing rather than a sudden drop or spike.

Because the CR-V has broad appeal and a reputation for practicality, it should remain easy to market to used buyers who want a dependable compact SUV. Strong condition, complete service records, and desirable equipment will matter most if you want to protect your resale position.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Honda CR-V safe?

The 2015 Honda CR-V earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and earns four-star ratings in rollover resistance and front passenger protection in a frontal-impact collision, and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda’s safety suite includes LaneWatch camera technology, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning, and collision-mitigation braking. The expert assessment also notes that the CR-V’s structure was upgraded to meet ACE II standards.

There are some caveats to keep in mind: LaneWatch is described as complicated and counter-intuitive, and the lane-departure warning system is considered intrusive and prone to false alerts.

Should I buy a 2015 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 26.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It benefits from a number of changes for 2015, including revised styling, updated suspension tuning, and a more fuel-efficient engine.

The bottom line: The 2015 CR-V is the right pick if you want a well-rounded used SUV with strong practicality, good owner satisfaction, and a stable price environment. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still make sense, but the 2015 stands out as a particularly balanced choice thanks to its updates and broad appeal.

How does the 2015 Honda CR-V compare to the 2015 Toyota RAV4?

Our experts score the 2015 Honda CR-V 8.5/10 and the 2015 Toyota RAV4 7.3/10. The CR-V comes across as the more well-rounded choice, with stronger expert scoring and a better balance of practicality, efficiency, and owner satisfaction. The RAV4 remains a solid alternative, but the CR-V’s broader appeal and stronger market position give it the edge for most used buyers.
