You get a practical, roomy SUV that owners commonly praise for its smooth ride, spacious trunk, solid build quality, and comfortable interior. The model’s long-term ownership risk for used buyers looks manageable, especially if you prioritise a proven, low-stress SUV over something more exciting.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Honda CR-V?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Touring trim adds a standard navigation system and 18-inch aluminium alloy wheels, while the base LX is more basic and comes with front-wheel drive standard in Canada, with AWD optional.
• Powertrain: You get a direct-injected 2.4-litre i-VTEC four-cylinder engine with 185 horsepower and a CVT. The engine is described as smooth and peppy, and the CVT is tuned to respond well while keeping drone in check.
• Safety package: Honda’s safety suite includes LaneWatch camera technology, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning, and collision-mitigation braking. Some of these features are available rather than standard on every version.
• Infotainment: The system uses a 7-inch touchscreen and includes Bluetooth with audio streaming, text-messaging support, a USB port, an auxiliary audio input jack, and HondaLink smartphone integration.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert test drive data cites 8.2 L/100 km in combined driving as the Natural Resources Canada rating, while the test vehicle averaged 9.5 L/100 km.

Which 2015 Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2015 Honda CR-V is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX AWD, EX-L, and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the CR-V lineup. It is the most basic version, so you should expect fewer convenience and safety extras than the higher trims.
• EX AWD: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds AWD from this grade up and brings a more complete everyday package without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• EX-L: This trim is the step up if you want a more upscale feel, and it serves as the foundation for the Touring model.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, adding navigation and 18-inch alloy wheels, and it suits you best if you want the most features in one package.

The Touring trim includes the full set of available safety features, while the lower trims do not get the same complete safety equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Honda CR-V?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 23.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 289 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.44% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $14,626 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Honda CR-V's resale value?

The current average of $14,644 CAD sits slightly below last year's $15,166 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper what a future seller can ask in the near term. Even so, the CR-V’s reputation for reliability, practicality, and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand over time.

Because this model continues to attract shoppers looking for a sensible family SUV, it should remain relatively easy to move compared with less established competitors. If you own one in good condition with desirable equipment, that combination should help preserve value better than average.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Honda CR-V safe?

The 2015 Honda CR-V earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and earns four-star ratings overall from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in every assessment except rollover resistance and front passenger protection in a frontal-impact collision, where it earns four-star ratings.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda’s safety suite includes LaneWatch camera technology for the right side, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning, and collision-mitigation braking. SmartVent airbags are also included, and HondaLink can provide automatic collision notification if you opt in.

There are a couple of caveats to keep in mind: LaneWatch is described as complicated and counter-intuitive, and the lane-departure warning system is considered intrusive. The Touring test vehicle had all available safety features, but some of the systems are better received than others.

Should I buy a 2015 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 23.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.44% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a refreshed package with revised styling, a more fuel-efficient engine, updated suspension tuning, and added safety technology.

The bottom line: The 2015 CR-V is a smart pick if you want a refined, practical used SUV with strong owner satisfaction and a broad feature set. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby model years, but the 2015 stands out as a well-rounded choice with meaningful updates.

How does the 2015 Honda CR-V compare to the 2015 Toyota RAV4?

Our experts score the 2015 Honda CR-V 8.5/10 and the 2015 Toyota RAV4 7.3/10. The CR-V comes across as the more polished all-rounder, with stronger expert scores, better fuel economy, and a more favourable used-price position. The RAV4 is still a solid competitor, but the CR-V’s combination of practicality, efficiency, and market value gives it the edge for most shoppers.
