Is the 2015 Honda CR-V a good car?

Yes — the 2015 Honda CR-V earns a 4.5/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its smooth ride, spacious trunk, and solid build quality, and the CR-V’s roomy, practical layout makes it a strong fit for everyday family use. The overview also points to a well-rounded SUV with a reputation for reliability and efficiency, which lines up with the recurring themes in owner feedback. With 25.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities if you want a sensible, versatile compact SUV.

Is the 2015 Honda CR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback repeatedly points to reliability, solid build quality, and a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience. The expert review also highlights quality and dependability, noting that Honda has long earned strong marks for this model’s long-term durability. The CR-V’s reputation for retaining value and its favourable ownership-cost profile add to that confidence.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about core durability and more about making sure any example you consider has been maintained properly and doesn’t have unresolved issues that owners have flagged, such as vibrations or feature-related complaints.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Honda CR-V?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the most basic version, while higher trims add more features and a more upscale feel. The Touring trim is the most fully equipped, with a standard navigation system and 18-inch alloy wheels, and it builds on the EX-L.
• Powertrain: The 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine is paired with a CVT and is described as smooth and peppy. Front-wheel drive is standard on the LX in Canada, while AWD is optional there and standard from the EX AWD grade and up.
• Safety package: Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering II structure underpins the CR-V’s safety story, and the model includes LaneWatch, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning, collision-mitigation braking, SmartVent airbags, and HondaLink automatic collision notification. Some of these features are not as easy to use as they sound, especially LaneWatch and the lane-departure warning system.
• Infotainment: The CR-V uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth audio streaming, text-messaging support, a USB port, an auxiliary input jack, and HondaLink smartphone integration. The system is broadly well equipped, but the physical controls are not especially intuitive.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review cites a Natural Resources Canada combined rating of 8.2 L/100 km, and the test vehicle averaged 9.5 L/100 km in highway-heavy driving.

Which 2015 Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2015 Honda CR-V is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX AWD, EX-L, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, so it makes the most sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the CR-V nameplate and can live with a simpler feature set.
• EX AWD: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds AWD and sits at the point where the CR-V starts to feel more complete without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• EX-L: Choose this if you want a more upscale cabin and are willing to pay for extra comfort and convenience features over the mid-range trims.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, with navigation, 18-inch alloy wheels, and the most premium presentation.

The safety package is broad across the lineup, but some of the advanced driver-assistance features are more useful in theory than in day-to-day use, so it is worth testing them yourself before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Honda CR-V?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 25.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 277 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.68% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $14,637 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Honda CR-V's resale value?

The current average of $14,673 CAD sits slightly below last year's $14,923 CAD.

That softer pricing trend suggests the CR-V is still in demand, but buyers have a bit more leverage than they did a year ago. For a future seller, that means condition, mileage, and trim will matter a lot when it comes time to list the vehicle. Well-kept examples should still attract attention because the model’s reputation for practicality and reliability remains a strong selling point.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Honda CR-V safe?

The 2015 Honda CR-V earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in every assessment except rollover resistance and front passenger protection in a frontal-impact collision, where it earns four stars.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda’s safety suite includes LaneWatch camera technology, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning, collision-mitigation braking, SmartVent airbags, and HondaLink automatic collision notification. The Touring test vehicle had all available safety features, but LaneWatch and the lane-departure warning system are both called out as less convincing than the rest of the package.

Should I buy a 2015 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 25.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.68% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 model year brings meaningful updates, including a more fuel-efficient engine, revised suspension tuning, and added safety technology.

The bottom line: The 2015 CR-V is the right pick if you want the updated version of an already proven formula, especially if you value practicality, reliability, and a more refined driving experience. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still make sense, but the 2015 stands out as the more polished and feature-rich choice in this generation.

How does the 2015 Honda CR-V compare to the 2015 Toyota RAV4?

Our experts score the 2015 Honda CR-V 8.5/10 and the 2015 Toyota RAV4 7.3/10. The CR-V comes across as the more well-rounded choice, with stronger expert scores, a roomier-feeling practical package, and better market availability. The RAV4 is still a solid alternative, but the CR-V’s combination of value, efficiency, and owner satisfaction gives it the edge for most used buyers.
