CarGurus Analysis: 2015 Chevrolet Trax

Summary
With 97 currently listed for sale and an average price of $8,232 CAD, 15.5% of 2015 Chevrolet Trax listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Chevrolet Trax 3.5 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2015 Chevrolet Trax stands out as Chevrolet’s first subcompact crossover, and that identity is central to its appeal. It was designed to blend the manoeuvrability and fuel efficiency of a sedan with the added space and higher driving position shoppers wanted from a small SUV. For buyers looking for an affordable, compact utility vehicle, that combination made the Trax a practical and easy-to-live-with choice.
For 2015, the Trax was powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 138 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque, paired with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive was available on the LT and LTZ trims, and the model’s safety record was a strength: the 2015 Trax earned five out of five stars from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in overall, frontal, and side protection, plus four stars in rollover testing. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave it its top “Good” rating in most categories, and the 2015 model year was the only first-generation version to earn a Top Safety Pick award.
The Trax also offered useful everyday features that helped it feel more versatile than its size might suggest. The base model included a folding front passenger seat that allowed owners to carry objects nearly 2.5 metres long, while the cabin came with a seven-inch infotainment touchscreen, OnStar, and Bluetooth. Owners also tended to appreciate its spacious interior, value for money, and safety features, though some noted highway road noise and paint-quality concerns.

DO NOT buy the bright blue model. All of the Trax of that color have peeling paint! Chevy is doing NOTHING to correct the issue. Class action law suite pending.

Great value for the price. Loaded with features for your safety and convenience. I have had a Ford Escape for years with great satisfaction. I believe this Trax will give the same pleasure.

How much does the 2015 Chevrolet Trax cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $8,186 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $8,186 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $10,343 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $10,350 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −20.91% |
Prices have softened 20.91% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 97 listings available, which gives you a reasonable amount of choice if you're comparing condition, mileage, and trim.
Is the 2015 Chevrolet Trax a good car?
The 2015 Chevrolet Trax is a sensible pick if you want a compact SUV that prioritises value, space, and everyday usability, and its user rating of 3.5/5 reflects that balanced appeal. Owners commonly praise the spacious interior, value for money, and safety features, while many also like the smooth driving experience and turbo performance. It fits especially well if you want a small, city-friendly crossover with a higher driving position and practical packaging. With 17.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2015 Chevrolet Trax reliable?
The 2015 Chevrolet Trax stands out as Chevrolet’s first subcompact crossover, and that identity is central to its appeal. Owners describe it as dependable for daily use, with many noting a trouble-free ownership experience and appreciating its long-term value as a practical small SUV. The same feedback also points to a vehicle you can count on for commuting and errands, especially if you want something easy to live with. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that condition can vary, so a careful inspection matters more than the badge alone.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Chevrolet Trax?
This is a moderate buyer's market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 17.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 97 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 20.91% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $8,186 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Chevrolet Trax's resale value?
The current average of $8,186 CAD sits slightly below last year's $10,350 CAD.
That price movement suggests the Trax has become more affordable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a softer resale environment than they would have a year ago. If you buy at today's average, your room for appreciation is limited unless market conditions improve. For a future seller, strong maintenance records and a clean history will matter more when it comes time to list.
Should I buy a 2015 Chevrolet Trax or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 17.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 20.91% compared with last year.
The bottom line: The 2015 Trax makes sense if you want a compact, value-focused crossover and you're comfortable shopping carefully for condition and price. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, a nearby year with a better listing may be worth comparing, but the 2015 remains a solid primary target for buyers who want a practical small SUV with decent market availability.
