'99 carrera won't start

Asked by Mgmisheff Sep 30, 2016 at 03:51 PM about the 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Initially my shop thought it was that the electronics in the key went bad, as
their diagnostics sid "immobililizer" something only a dealer can correct.
Had it towed to dealer and they say it now will turn over, but won't start and I
need a new fuel pump. Stuck in the middle and there is a huge difference in
price between the 2 options to repair. Any thoughts?

A new fuel pump is easily available for around $150 dollars, check out Pelican parts or Rock Auto. Easy to install, follow the instructions at Pelican Parts and some of the leads on line. The dealer will literally rape you on this service. If you are handy you can easily do it, or pay a garage $100 for what should be an hours work. Good Luck.
