What should I look for when buying a used Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Mercedes-Benz Pre-Safe, plus forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, park assist, a 360-degree camera system, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit assist, and traffic sign recognition.
• Infotainment: Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus dual 12.3-inch displays.

Which Mercedes-Benz G-Class trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class offers these trims:

• G 550: The base gasoline model brings the turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six, mild-hybrid assistance, nine-speed automatic transmission, permanent 4WD, and locking front, centre, and rear differentials. It suits you if you want the core G-Class experience with the broadest everyday appeal.
• G 63: The AMG model adds the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, AMG Active Ride Control suspension, and a more performance-focused character. It is the best-value pick if you want the most power and the most distinctive driving feel.

What Mercedes-Benz G-Class do most buyers choose?

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class years with the most listings are 2022, 2021, and 2020.

These higher-volume years tend to draw more shoppers because they offer a wider selection and more chances to find the right colour, mileage, and equipment mix. They also give you a better shot at comparing multiple listings side by side before you buy.

What is the Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

Most model years in the table are down year over year, which can work in your favour if you’re shopping used. A few years are moving higher, though, so the G-Class still shows strong demand in parts of the lineup. The biggest drops are concentrated in the newer used years, which can create better entry points for buyers looking at recent models.

The 2025, 2018, and 2019 model years have held their value best, with prices flat to rising year-over-year.
