Fan is always on

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The cooling fan turns on as soon as u turn key to on even if car isn't running and stays on
the whole time it is being driven. When u shut off fan stay on for about 10 more seconds.
Car is only getting 26 mpg and guessing the fan has something to do with it.

i think its the temperature sending unit malfunctioning
