I have a 1998 Ford explorer xlt. 4.0 v6. Can I swap the transmission with a 2003 Ford explorer v6?

The 98 has a 5r55e transmission and the 03 has a 5r55s version of the same thing. Although they share the same case the internal controls and electronics are different.
