Need to go through emissions. Can't disconnect
battery or fuse. Trying to shut off the check engine
light

Buy a $20 obd-II reader at walmart, they have a function to turn off check engine light. It may come back on if the problem that is causing the code is not fixed.

Turning off light will not help pass emission test in most areas. The fault can still be read in memory if the tech uses proper testing equipment.
