How many times should I be feeling the car shift when starting out in D4 with my 96 Honda Accord 4 speed automatic trans.?

Three times. You go from stop, shift in to second gear (one shift)..in to third gear, (two shifts) then in to high, fourth gear or overdrive whatever the case may be, (third shift)

Good, that's how many times it's shifting. Trying to rule out what the extra humming noise is I'm hearing while driving....it increases and decreases with up and down acceleration. ?
