Intake

Asked by GuruVVJNB Aug 15, 2018 at 12:57 AM about the 2014 Ford F-150 XL SuperCrew 4WD

Question type: Car Customization

I was wondering does drilling holes in a stock air
box on a 2014 f150 5.0 really make a difference? I
was wondering if it helps with mpg and h.p or just
give it more air flow. Thanks

It will make it louder and increase airflow at higher rpm at the expense of off throttle response and warmer air being sucked in to the engine. The best air intake mod on the cheap is to try and replace the factory corrugated plastic tube with an aluminum one about the same size and keeping the airbox and Intake snorkel. Tens of thousands of dollars went into research and development for best economy and power balance for the street while keeping the noise down
