Do the plastic replacement intake manifolds for the 4.6L flow better than the factory aluminum ones?

Asked by FordFan711 Dec 17, 2018 at 12:56 AM about the 1997 Ford F-150 XLT Extended Cab Stepside SB

Question type: Car Customization

The motor seems to be starving for air, so, I am curious about if I replace the
intake manifold with the plastic one, will it flow better?

Nothing significant. It just seems to be struggling to build power. The exhaust has been checked ... no restrictions. I am used to the performance of a carbureted engine, and this engine just seems extremely "gutless". The truck has a 3.55 rear gear and it has NOTHING out of the hole. I've had cars with 3.08's with a better launch than this truck.

The 4.6 is a short stroke engine that does not have a lot of torque. The 5.4 is a great engine.
