2014 Equinox stalls while decelerating

Asked by Cap01 Jul 13, 2016 at 12:01 PM about the 2014 Chevrolet Equinox 1LT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Anytime I slow down my car stalls. It starts right
back up but when I slow down I have to keep my
foot on the brake and accelerator at the same time
or the car starts to shake and it shuts down.

It sounds like a pump or fuel injector issue. When the car is running faster the engine is able to pump fuel with enough pressure but as you decelerate the pressure drops and fuel is not flowing at a sufficient rate. Best to have it checked out. But if you want to try a few things, perhaps using a fuel additive that cleans injectors might help. You also might try replacing the fuel filter.

Also would have the Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid checked out.

Fuel is pumped by electric motors in today's cars and not by the engine as stated about. Search online there are numerous recalls for stalling and it us a common problem on these vehicles which they claim is due to several parts such as a cam sensor or manifold valves however even when people have these parts replaced the problems persist. Report the issue to the dealership if they are unable to resolve the issue contact the better business bureau

Had problems with my 2013 Equinox...kept stalling when I backed up or slowed down....got it scanned...it read ...cam shaft position actuator solenoid...changed both of them...40 bucks each...one is for intake and the other is for exhaust...so be careful when u change them look like lil missiles...sit on top of motor....under the 2 plastic motor covers...runs perfect again...so glad that these were my problems...Brian M of Ebb n Flow First Nation
