Transmission not shifting

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have a 2004 crown vic police interceptor
and it starts and runs but quit shifting and
overdrive light came on.  Computer showed
shift solenoid,  changed it and nothing has
changed.

Car starts but after warm up stalls out and if driven it dies after first block or two also gives foul smell like lacquer in gasoline
