Well my battery light came on after it started smoking. It was low on coolant because it started leaking and I didn't know it....so it must be a low coolant light??!!!.

Justfine58, S The same thing happened to my 2010 Escape a couple of years ago. Apparently, the water pump is known to bust, sending fluid over the alternator. Had to have both replaced.

I have a 2018 Ford Escape ..,still Under warranty and I’m having the same issue we’ve only had it a year and out of nowhere the battery light came on and won’t come off they have no idea what it could be when they hooked it up to a machine after we spent $3000 getting it fixed so called Front bumper was damaged even though we didn’t see anything whenever we brought it in but they claim that it may have been hit in a parking lot the only thing that showed any damage was the front license plate brackets two days after we got it out of the shop the light came back on... Anyone know if there’s a recall on these yet
