Question type: Maintenance & Repair

does not show code as had a meter placed on it ...to get it to finally start I have to pump
the daylights out of it..then it runs ruff for about 10 seconds... some one suggested it has
lost it's prime... could this be related to the fuel pump that is located in the fuel tank?

so your saying that the vehicle cranks a long time before starting and runs rough when it does.....//there is a port on the fuel rail that you can put a gauge on and monitor the pressure .....// what you should see is with the key just turned on and not to the run/crank position the fuel pump will run for a few seconds to prim the fuel system ....running fuel pressure should be 52 psi...and maintain pressure after the engine is shut down and should not drop...it sounds like your pump is not holding in the rail and when you crank it over to start it takes sometime to build the pressure and then it has to bleed the air out and that's why the rough running....see if you can get a gauge and test the fuel presure
