How many miles do I have from the time my brake wear warning light goes on before I am in danger.

Asked by Christina Jul 30, 2013 at 03:04 AM about the 2009 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class GL 450

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am on vacation in Italy with my American spec mb gl 450.  I am carrying a full load with
weight and 5 passengers.  My brake wear indicator went on and we have about 200 km
to get back home.  Am I safe to drive it back to my base in northern Italy or do I need to
have this done right now.  It will be very expensive here.  The indicator went on about 75
km ago.  Not an expense I planned for on my vacation nor time but I am concerned.   I
am not doing much driving here and my front brakes just got replaced about 3 months
ago.

The wear indicator is supposed to warn you before you have passed the danger point. Avoid any hard and sudden braking and it should be fine until you return from your trip.
