Rough idle

Asked by MissCindy71 Aug 06, 2018 at 12:18 PM about the 2003 Ford Explorer XLT V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 03 explorer 6cyl has started idling rough
and I've replaced plugs plug wires catalytic
converter and mass air flow sensors. What
could be the cause? Also my cruise control
won't light up or anything.

The basics for a rough idle, check for a leak of some kind, fuel--egr--vacuum, something of that nature. Any applicable trouble codes?

I had AutoZone hook it up to their diagnostic tool and it says mass air flow system but I have replaced the same one 2 times in last 6 months

Some ford maf sensors, everything off, unplug it. Start the vehicle, take it for a spin. If it does better, then something wrong with that system. Could be wiring connector--wiring circuit--or computer, not to mention the sensor itself. I realize the sensor has been replaced.
