Brake light won't cut off

Asked by Shauna Jul 07, 2020 at 11:29 AM about the 2007 Kia Optima LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2007 kia optima, the brake lights would not turn off
so I changed the brake light switch. However the light still
will not go off. What else could it be?

There should be a rubber or plastic piece on the brake pedal that presses the button. If that piece is gone, the button will stick through the hole on the pedal, leaving the brake lights on.
