if you lost power that means your car went into limp mode. the fact you lost the speedo would imply probley a bad wheel sensor or your speedo cable got cooked on something under the hood. Crack your hood open and trail the speedo cord it comes straight out from behind your dash unit and find out if there is any breaks or open spots. Also check your wheel hubs and the wire and harness for the sensor in them. Have the car scanned by a garage with Ross tech software if you don't see anything wrong and they should be able to find the problem fast and efficiently. The vw dealer or a VW/Audi Specialist shop should be able to do this.
