I have a 2002 VW Passat, oil is leaking oil where could it be coming from ?

The check engine light on and there's oil on the ground. Where could it be coming from ?

Degreasing the engine and then monitoring to see where the source of the leak is best. Most common on this engine would be valve cover gaskets, cam tensioner gaskets, and cam bore plugs. Sometimes the oil cooler seal cracks from age, too.
