sourcing for a new sub engine

Can anyone advice me on what newer engines I can drop in my 96 Jetta GLS especially newer diesel engines ..if possible pls... as I would like to save on my gas ....Thanks

hello, i have done a great deal of engine swaps and you can get any engine on that matter, just need to work on the mounts, depending on the engine the work is more o less easier but its almost the same. the 1.9tdi from an mk4 jetta or golf must fit just fine, just install with its transmision and work the mounts.
