Changed battery on my sl500 1995 now I turn the key all lights come on but won't start

Does the engine rotate - turn but NOT start up? or is nothing happening when the key is turned? The anti theft is preventing it from rotating? most likely.

Per our mechanic, you are suppose to check coding after you install a new battery or some things will not operate as they did before new battery was installed.
