Why wont my 2005 Ram 1500 Crank/Start?

Asked by David Aug 04, 2017 at 11:35 AM about the 2005 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Quad Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Replaced my battery two months ago from Costco. Yesterday, I drove my
truck around town, parked it and went inside. Came back out and tried to
start it and it wouldnt even make a clicking sound.

All electrical works before it attempts to start. Headlights are bright, power
locks work, etc. Then when I put my key in to start all electric turns off.
Lights wont even turn on when keys are out of the ignition. Even without the
keys in the ignition, the red warning light will flash, along with my mileage,
however that is the extent of the electrical power.

Any Ideas?

Use a digital multimeter across battery posts. The generic spec for a full charge is around 12.6 volts. If the battery is down, use a charger and get it charged up. check battery connections. Check your charging system. If the battery is down, we're just spinning our wheels. I looked at info for 05--ram--1500--4.7L engine.

Possibly a bad connection at the battery terminals. Try cleaning and tightening the connections. Also check the battery ground connection.
