Ignition and starter

So I replaced my ignition switch then realized my
starter was gone replaced that now the ignition
stays on and when I connect the battery starts
turning over right away the ignition wire has
constant power what did I do wrong

You might have bought a defective starter. The solenoid integrated to the starter is stuck on. Not sure where you bought your starter but if it was O'Riley's. I wouldn't be surprised. Has happened to me before.

Note the diagram. If you take the purple wire to starter s terminal loose, when you hook up the battery cable does it still crank? If so, I agree with first post and starter assembly has a problem. If it no longer cranks, then have backtrack that purple wire circuit to ignition switch. Double check your work or maybe circuit shorted to voltage, somewhere?
