2004 F-250 Crew Cab REAR power door locks

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Recently purchased this truck.  the rear power door locks do not lock or unlock with the remote or with the lock switch in the front doors.  They make no noise at all, either one.  I see only one fuse that seems to relate to switches, and since the fronts work, unless there is another fuse? somewhere that relates to this, I wonder if someone can advise on how I can diagnose this.  It seems odd that NEITHER one works, from either the passenger door switch or the driver door switch.  Thank you

*Also, last night we crawled under the dash and found the keyless entry code (which no one remembered), however that does not seem to activate anything either.  The keyless entry pad does work, if you press the 7/8 and 9/0 keys together, the doors (front only) do lock.

Are you sure they are door locks and not for the power windows? I thought my power windows on the back door were door locks, for a long time and figured they didn't work, turns out they are for the windows. I never had to lower the windows in back, because no one rode back there.

you are right, the switches in back are for the windows. But the rear locks themselves are not locking or unlocking when using the power door lock switches on the front doors, or with the remote control.

Here is a site that can probably help you and answer your question. http://www.auto-repair-help.com/auto_diagnostics/diagnose_power_door_locks_dont_work_properly.php Below is something I found: In some cars that have power door locks, the lock/unlock switch actually sends power to the actuators that unlock the door. ... the doors when it receives the correct digital code from the radio transmitter in your key fob, and also monitors the switches inside the car. It could be something as easy as a fuse. Seems funny though it's just your back doors and your back door locks are not used as often as the front ones. Sorry I misunderstood about what you were saying about your locks.
