2006 Ford F-150 STX Cannot locate starter solenoid. Chased every positive
lead from battery. Not under hood? If in cab near fuse box ... exactly where and
what has to come off to access?  Can't fix if I can't find. Also, part  (Motorcraft
02AF-11450 AA) is supposedly no longer available, according to parts dept.

The starter solenoid is apart of your starter. The starter relay is on the passenger fuse kick panel.

There are 2 solenoids. One on the starter (starter & solenoid come as one piece now) and a smaller one usually under the hood., which can be seen in many YouTube videos. I cannot locate the smaller solenoid, bolted to the chassis somewhere, which I believe grounds it. However, I found & changed the relay and 2 fuses, and the problem seems to be fixed. Thanks for responding.

2 weeks later, won't crank . Problem now not intermittent, but permanent. Went under truck and rapped on the solenoid and ... bingo! Started right up. Time to replace starter and solenoid.

Last post (I hope)! Truck wouldn't crank no matter what. Gave up on remove/replace starter. Couldn't get to 3rd bolt. Was going to have truck towed to repair shop and then remembered the BATTERY INSIDE KEY for transponder. Old one measured 1 volt. Replaced w/ new CR1632 3V battery. Voltage checked out @ 3 volts.. Truck starts every time. Glad I couldn't get starter out!
