Under the dash up behind the Steering column is two screws that hold the shifter into place, when u move the shifter you will see a small plate that holds the shifter. Tighten the screw. It's not easy to get to but with a flexible attachment it can be done

There is a problem in the steering column where the shifter is. Something must be broke for the shifter to do circles. So the shifter is not moving the shift linkage to shift the transmission.

No, it's just wobbly and won't go into gear ,unless I get under it and hand shift it.
