dash board lights and diniging

Asked by smgarcia30 Sep 20, 2010 at 05:07 PM about the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer LS 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

every light on the dasboard is lighting up and the diniging telling me that they're on won't stop.  it's happened a few times before and it'll just stop when it wants to, and start again randomly.  also the gauge needles drop all the way down and keep bouncing around.  my friends did the whole battery test to see if it's the alternator and it's working ok, i guess and i just replaced the batterry a little under a year.  that's another issue too, we are going through batteries like crazy, atleast once a year or year and a half.  don't know what to do? does anyone have any answers?

Sounds like a ground problem. The whole dash is going to do starnge thigs because it is part of the computer network. The body control computer with lose contact with the IPC ( Instrument panel controller ) and shut every thing off ( Lights on etc ) These also had issues with the connector on the back of the Instrument panel. Check for it not being connected all the way. As for batteries , may be the same ground issue. Good Luck
