The car will shift hard and whine after ir driving for a while. I read than that somes codes could be set off and don't turn on any lights. Was wonder if this is true.

that is true there are 2 types of codes a and b b codes will set and not turn on the cel (check engine light) most likely the code set is p1811 maximum adapt long shift and if there is no metal in the pan just replace the filter and the pressure control solenoid, pc solenoid is in the side cover not the pan
