Changing the water pump on a 2000 Pontiac gt with the 3.8 l engine. The rear most bolt is blocked by the power steering pulley, is it easier to remove the whole pump or to remove the pulley?

If I remember correctly you can remove the pump easier. Just need to move it a little bit don't unhook the p/s lines.Then snake the w/p bolt out.
Yes,remove pump,you can,t get puller on it anyway,make it easy on your self drop ,the pump.

Just finished up. You both were definitely right about that. Just wanted to say thanks again. Once I found the two mounting bolts it was pretty easy. Appreciate the help.

You know they actually have a hole in the pulley made just for getting the bolt out. Just line the hole up with the bolt and use and extension and socket to get the bolt out and the water pump should come out pretty easy. That is if it's the same as the 01 Monte Carlo series II 3.8L I just did.
