2000 Jeep Cherokee...everything works fine then bam battery amp drops to 9volts and car will not start back up...battery is good and have put a new alternator on it...any suggestions?

a 12 volt battery drops to 9 volts . that's a heavy drain by a short and getting hot somewhere or high resistance at a heavy cable connection ,could be at starter end of cable , ground, etc.,
