More than likely a problem inside the black box mounted under the vehicle near the front/center. There are 2 electric valves inside it and a filter. These cars are known more than others to have starting/running problems due to this set up. NEVER force fill the car when filling it up, just set the handle to it's slowest or middle setting and when the pump clicks off do NOT try to round out the price or gallons by clicking the pump to top it off! Have the car checked for stored codes, or just change the filters and valves.

PCV - Purge Control Valve. Located near throttle, requires a pair of pliers to remove and replace. Let me know if this helps, I want another one of these cars.
