Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 02 Santa Fe that we just changed out rear valve cover gasket, along with the radiator & a spark plug wire. Went to drive it, starts running rough & barely makes it up driveway. Shut it off before it dies.  Try to start again and makes a not so great sound (didn't start).  Try again, starts, idles really rough and acts like it's fixing to die, so we shut it off.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

If it ran before changing the valve cover gasket, recheck all of your work, especially any electrical connections you may have unplugged or disturbed.

Just a place to start, it sounds like you crossed some spark plug wires, possibly a loose connection at the plugs or coil.

Thanks for all the suggestions and help! It was greatly appreciated! The spark plug wires (1 and 3) were crossed. Runs so much better, and changed out all the wires while we were at it, too. Thanks again!!
