i had my explorer sitting for the winter without it plugged in and i wanna work on it this weekend (just replacing the alternator) and i wanted to plug it in till then anyways i cant find the cord to plug it in and i am not exactly sure where the cord comes from like where the block heater is. if some one can help me out thatd be great

Hello b raine11-- This is the second question I've had this week asking me about a block heater. What, you from the North Pole or something? The block heater was installed after market (probably not at the factory.) Look for the plug hanging out near the exhaust manifold or up near the grill. Next time you unplug it, try to remember where you last saw it. Maybe you could tape an old bandana around it. Make it easy on yourself. Good luck from tropical Boston and Bovan.

I'm not sure there's a specific storage space for the cord but I believe the plug will be on the front of the engine compartment near the front license plate holder tucked inside the airdam. I did find one reference on the '96 model year where there was a box for the cord in the right front of the engine compartment, so you might want to check there. If that fails give your local Ford dealer a call and he'll be able to home you in on it. Good luck!
