i have a 1996 ford explorer and i am having a problem in the front end.when i put the transmission into gear and start to drive there is a loud noise coming from the left front end.if i stop it goes away.i tries to put it into neutral and the sound is still there.a mechanic thinks it is the front hub and knuckle.when i took the tire off i spun the rotor and it seems like the noise is coming from the other side of the knuckle whatever the knuckle is attatched to.do u think it is a bearing in the transmission or was the mechanic right about the hub and knuckle

Dear mike06498-- This is a tough one to answer without taking a look and a short ride myself. From what you tell me about your 1996 Ford Explorer I would stick with the front hub as the root of your problem. If you don't believe the mechanic you used, go elsewhere for a second opinion. Good luck from Bovan.
