Hello!! I have a car repair question, and wasn't sure where to direct it. We currently own a 2006 Ford Escape. It passed inspection 3 months ago in September, but the other day, the "Check Engine" light came on. After bringing it in to the dealership, we were told there was a problem with the electrical system, and it would cost approx. $5,000 for repairs. I understand that it is a 13 year old car, but would it really need that much repair work, after just passing inspection 3 months ago?

I suggest going to autozone and using their OBD2 scan tool. It will pull up codes to whatever is going on with the car. That dealer is full of BS $5,000? LOL. Autozone or other autoshops if you park there you have to give them a refundable deposit to use their tool since I guess people kept stealing them in the past. OBD2 reader will do wonders for you.

Try to describe any problems and have the trouble codes read. Post them here and don't take the advice of the idiots at Autozone. They sell parts but most guys there don't have a clue about repairs.

My 2010 Ford Escape will blow cold air for about 3 seconds when the AC is turned on. I checked the compressor and the clutch will engage for those first couple seconds and then stop completely. I thought it might be low on freon, but when I went to check the low pressure, I got a low pressure reading of 100, which is way too high. My guess is the relay is done or maybe the compressor.
